Ryan Giggs Set to Announce Departure From Manchester United

Manchester United's legendary Welshman Ryan Giggs is set to leave the club prior to the start of the season, after reportedly being offered a reduced coaching role by new manager Jose Mourinho.

Giggs, who had served as the assistant manager under Louis van Gaal, will not be continuing in the same position after Mourinho brought in compatriot Rui Faria to be his second-in-charge.

The club will begin preparations for the new season on Monday, and it is rumoured that Giggs will announce his departure from the club after meeting Mourinho.

Giggs had joined United as a 14-year-old in 1987, and rose through the ranks to become a key component of Sir Alex Ferguson's title-winning teams from the early-90s to the Scot's retirement in 2013.

The Welsh winger went on to win a record 13 league titles and two European Cups, before finishing his playing career in 2014.

Giggs also served as an interim manager for four games for United following the sacking of David Moyes as manager towards the end of the 2013-14 season.

The 42-year-old will join ITV as a pundit for the remaining part of Euro 2016, and is likely to move into full-time management following his departure from United.
