In Benighat district of central Nepal, school children are forced to use a Wooden box (Tuin) and cables every day so as to haul themselves over the dangerous waters of Trishuli river and reach school on time.
These children belong to Dhaing village of central Nepal and if not for this ropeway, they would be forced to take a much longer and dangerous way to reach the other side and head to school.
Majority of the people in this village use a ‘box’ to haul things to the other side and earn their daily wages.
While Nepal is known for being an adventure holiday destination, for these locals there is no other choice and this is a daily fact of life.
While a freak accident claimed lives of five people in 2010, the government, despite promises, have not started work on the suspension bridge that they promised a year back.
But even if the work on the promised suspension bridge start today, by the time if is ready, many of these students would have already graduated from school and most probably headed out to a college which would be much easier to reach.
