Reliance Jio: 8 new things Mukesh Ambani announced today



There's more good news for Reliance Jio customers, the company has extended its free 'Welcome Offer' for another three months.

This was announced by Reliance Industries' chairman Mukesh Ambani today at the company's employees and shareholders' meet. In a speech delivered at Reliance Corporate Park, Mumbai, Ambani also made a slew of other announcements.

Here are the 8 key announcements that India's richest man made today.


#1 services now free till March 31, 2017
Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said that the company is extending its 'Welcome Offer' for another three months (valid till March 31, 2017). The company renamed the offer to 'Happy New Year Offer'.

Ambani said, "Starting December 4, 2016, every new Jio user will get the data, voice, and full bouquet of the Jio apps free till 31 March 2017."

He added that the company's all 52 million users will continue to enjoy its 'Welcome Offer' till December 31, and then automatically be signed up for the 'New Year Offer' on the same SIM.



#2 New daily FUP limit of 1GB
Reliance Jio announced a new daily FUP limit of 1GB, which once exhausted will result speed drop to 128kbps.



#3 Get Jio SIM delivered to home service expanded
Mukesh Ambani also announced that the company is expanding its 'Get a Jio SIM home-delivered' service to 100 more cities across the country by December 31.



#4 e-KYC outlets to go up to 4 lakhs by 2017
Mukesh claimed that the company has 2 lakh eKYC outlets, a number almost equal to the total number of ATMs in India. Ambani further said that there will be 4 lakh outlets by March 2017.



#5 Reliance Jio is the world's fastest-growing IT company
Reliance Jio has added another feather to its cap, that of being the 'world's fastest-growing IT company'.

RIL CMD Mukesh Ambani said, "Jio has become the fastest-growing technology company in the world."

He added that the company has grown faster than Facebook, WhatsApp and Skype in the past three months.



#6 900 crore voice calls from Jio blocked in the last three months
Hitting out at rivals, Ambani said that in the last three months nearly 900 crore voice calls from Jio to networks of its three largest competitors (Airtel, Vodafone and Idea) were blocked.



#7 Call drops have come down to 20%
Mukesh Ambani, however, claimed that in the past few weeks the call block rate has come down from over 90% to nearly 20% (as of yesterday).

He further added that the company is working with all operators to bring this to within 0.2 percent limit.


#8 Jio now fully supports MNP
He also said that Jio now fully supports Mobile Number Portability (MNP).

All customers can retain their existing number when they migrate to Jio. This is being progressively launched across India through MyJio and will be available in top 100 cities by December 31, 2016.
