Diwali 2016: Salman Khan sends festive wishes to Indian soldiers through PM Narendra Modi’s app! (Watch video)

Bollwood superstar Salman Khan, who is a big supporter of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since his election campaign days, has a fan in the PM too. The actor has been at the forefront of promoting the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan kickstarted by PM Modi and often posts videos on Facebook about the same.

yesterday, the Bollywood actor sent festive wishes for Diwali 2016 to the soldiers of the Indian Army through PM Narendra Modi’s mobile app! The actor posted a link to a video of the app on Twitter, that goes to his Facebook page. Salman Khan wrote in Hindi on Twitter, “देश के सेना के जवानो और नवजनो को मेरी तरफ से दीवाली की हार्दिक शुभ कामनाए और सभी को हॅपी दीवाली #Sandesh2Soldiers.” (My good wishes for Diwali to Indian Army soldiers and the youth. Happy Diwali!)

The video has a message by PM Narendra Modi and goes on to explain how to send a message to our jawans through the app or even by email, logging on the website mygov.in or sending a postcard!

Salman Khan has been recently in a controversy because he made a statement against the ban of Pakistani actors in Bollywood. There has been a demand for artistes from Pakistan to be banned ever since the country was allegedly involved in the Uri attack on September 18 wherein four militants killed 19 Indian Army soldiers in their sleep! Post that, India retaliated with a surgical strike in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) along the Line-of-Control (LoC).

Since then, films having a Pakistani actor or singer have had to face trouble, be it Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil starring Pakistani actor-singer Fawad Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, or Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt’s Dear Zindagithat stars Pakistani actor-singer Ali Zafar.

Karan Johar has only recently managed to end the truce with the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and other film bodies that demanded a ban on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil - the film releases on Diwali 2016 that is October 28. But many actors have spoken for and against the ban on Pakistani actors in Bollywood, with Salman Khan making a very valid point that it is the government that provides these Pakistani artistes a visa to work in India, so we needn’t go against the government.

But quite a few fans of Salman Khan and stars like Nana Patekar and the MNS head Raj Thackeray lashed out at Salman Khan for his comment on the issue. Looks like this video wishing the Indian Army soldiers a Happy Diwali 2016 is Salman Khan’s way to calm things down after the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil controversy!

PM Narendra Modi is clearly using Brand Salman to further his social causes and his app! Nothing wrong in it. Happy Diwali!
