security forces neutralize 2 more terrorists in Pathankot shootout , combing operations still under way

Yesterday After A Three days long Combined Operation, security forces  neutralised two more terrorists holed up in the Pathankot air base, leaving behind raised questions over the fate of the Foreign Secretary level talks with Pakistan next week.

Neither anyone in the government nor those involved in the counter-terror operations were still ready to declare a closure to the attack in Pathankot as they declared that the "operations are still going on".

According to sources, security agencies blasted the terrorists' hideout on Monday. One terrorist was blown to pieces in the blast while the other terrorist's body is being pulled out of the rubble, the sources added.

If sources are to be believed, the probe suggests that there were two groups of terrorists. Both the terrorists entered the air base before alert was sounded.

The terrorists used all the tactics of professional fighters like conserving firepower, attacking at 3 AM when the level of alertness is at its lowest and going quiet to give the impression that all the attackers had died, and also to fire at a crowded mess-like area where mostly people are unarmed, show the military precision that was involved.

Reports suggest that the terrorists might have entered the campus before an alert was sounded while crucial hours were lost in verifying Punjab Police SP Salwinder Singh's claims about his abduction by terrorists. Immediately after the alarm was sounded, security at all vital installations, including the Pathankot air base in Punjab, was enhanced to the highest level to make it difficult for the terrorists to mount an attack.

Reports also say that police officers whom the SP had informed about the terrorists initially did not may heed to his statements, leading to the operation being delayed by nearly 15 hours.

The sources further added that the SP was abducted by four persons. It is also learnt that the group of four terrorists could have entered the air base later.

Earlier, the sources said that the level of training of the Pathankot terrorists seems to be even better than that of the Mumbai 26/11 attackers. Huge quantity of explosives, rifles and rocket launchers was found from the site of the attack.

Even as the six terrorists were preparing to enter the Pathankot air base and attack and destroy it, details reveal that they were acting on the instructions of the handlers, who were on the other side of the border.

As per exclusive information, the terrorists who attacked the Pathankot airbase and held siege for more than 60 hours, acted at the behest of their handlers.

Maulana Ashfaq Ahmed, single-handedly revived the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammad after it was banned in 2001. He stayed under the radar for 10 years. He is also the main fundraiser for Jaish & Al-Rehmat Trust.

He raised millions of dollars for Al-Rehmat from within Pakistan and the Middle-East.

Hafiz Abdul Shakur and Kaasim Jaan were responsible for handling logistics for terrorists. They arranged camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the first week of December and coordinated with ISI agents. They also briefed the two modules about the task.

They are said to have facilitated movement of terrorists to the Pakistan side of the border and sent the two groups in Toyota Land Cruiser and Mitsubishi Pajero cars.
