Indian Hockey Team

Harmanpreet Singh and Mandeep Singh got on the score-sheet for India as the Men in Blue blanked New Zealand 3-0 in their second match of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2017 in Ipoh, Malaysia.

Mandeep opened the scoring for India in the second quarter while Harmanpreet converted from two penalty corners, as India overcame their opening day disappointment in thrilling style.

However, it was the Kiwis who started the match on the front-foot as Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh had to make few crucial saves in the first quarter. The Indian skipper also saved a penalty corner to keep the score level in the first fifteen minutes.

But it was all India in the second quarter as they started to dominate the proceedings. Mandeep Singh finally gave India the breakthrough in the 24th minute of the match, as he bundled the ball into the goal following a great effort by Chinglensana Singh.

Three minutes later, Harmanpreet Singh doubled India's lead by scoring from a penalty corner. Harmanpreet then scored his second and India's third of the match as he converted again from the penalty corner in the 47th minute of the match.

India had multiple chances in the final quarter of the match to increase their lead but Harmanpreet and Rupinder Pal Singh failed to convert their respective penalty corners and won the match 3-0.
