Subhash Chandra Bose was one of the tallest leaders of India’s freedom struggle.
To many in contemporary India, Netaji, as he was affectionately called, is the leader who actually gave the British Empire in India its biggest challenge ever.
Without a doubt, Netaji Subhash is the man whose unparalleled courage and determination resulted in a real threat for the British forces in India.
In fact, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, too, remarked that it was Netaji not Mahatma Gandhi whom the British feared.
In this footage from the National Film Archives of India (NFAI), we see glimpses of Netaji gathering INA soldiers outside India.
We also see him during his visit to the Andaman Island between 1943 and 1944 when it was under Japanese control.
Netaji in various stages of his leadership and a rousing voiceover in the background during the tumultuous last days of the Raj will give many a patriots goosebumps.
