Bengaluru Beats London & Silicon Valley To Win The ‘World’s Most Dynamic City’ Title

Bengaluru, India’s most sought-after IT hub has bagged the top spot in JLL’s annual City Momentum Index (CMI) beating world’s top cities likes of London, Silicon Valley, and Shanghai to emerge as ‘world’s most dynamic city’ .

This is the first time an Indian city has been chosen as the most dynamic city and has also left behind the SiliconValley (USA) and Shanghai (China) that are usually considered the fastest.

Along with Bengaluru 6 other Indian cities have also been featured in the top 30 list.

While Hyderabad at rank 5 featured in the Top 10, Chennai and Pune feature in the Top 20, as Delhi and Mumbai follow behind in the Top 30.

Releasing the list at the World Economic Forum in Davo, treal estate consultancy firm James Lang Laselle (JLL) said, “They are not what you’d expect”. Parameters such as technology and R&D, population, connectivity, education, real estate investment, output and corporate activities have been taken as the basis of the formulation of the list”.

The WEF tweeted: “These are the most dynamic cities in the world-and they are not the one’s you would expect”.

The forum noted that though dynamic cities are spread throughout the world, more than half of the top 30 in the 2017 rankings were in Asia-Pacific.

“India snatched the lead from China as home to some of the world’s fastest-changing cities, taking six of the top 30, compared with China’s five. The overriding factors that characterise the world’s most dynamic cities are technology and innovation — and cities that best absorb, adapt and leverage these drivers come out on top,” the WEF said in a brief note.
