9 Incredibly Awkward Behind-The-Scene Stories Of Sensual Scenes From Popular Movies

Sex is great but imagine hundreds of cameras and people around you while you are making love, awkward! Filming a sex scene isn't remotely romantic or sensual, or so we are told. They make it look too real and too good to be true. A great cinematic sex scene can be super gratifying, we all know that. But what happens behind the scenes? 

These erotic scenes involve a lot of blood and sweat, metaphorically speaking, but they also sometimes involve super awkward tales too. From breaking a hip to getting an accidental boner, to contracting an STD, this list will make you think why at all the actors go through the ordeal.

1. The Wolf of Wall Street

Who wouldn't want to get up, close and personal with Leonardo Di Caprio, right? Not Margot Robbie, apparently. The actor, played Leo's wife in the film and while there were plenty of steamy scenes between the actors, there was one that literally, left Robbie, with bruises (and not from the sex). The scene where Robbie and Leo are doing it on a huge pile of cash, actually left many paper cuts and scars on Robbie's back.

The actor opened up about the scene in an interview, where she said,

If anyone is ever planning on having sex on top of a pile of cash: don't. Or maybe real money is a bit softer, but the fake money is like paper, and when I got up off the bed, I turned around to get my robe and everyone gasped. I said, 'What is it?' And they said, 'You look like you've been whipped a million times. Your back is covered in a thousand red scratches."

Ouch!  

2. Last Tango In Paris

We all know that the supremely talented Marlon Brando, could not mug up his dialogues, even to save his life. While there is no questioning his acting prowess, his ingenious way of scribbling his dialogues on different props on the sets makes it quite a hilarious read now. Like from the time he chose to write dialogues on the sole of his shoe. This film was no exception. Because there were so many steamy scenes involved and no article of clothing left to scribble on, Brando suggested he write them on his co-star's rear. Better sense prevailed and no such thing was allowed, thankfully.

3. Basic Instinct

This Blockbuster film in the 90's was clearly one of the most erotic films from Hollywood at the time, and who can forget the infamous 'interrogation' scene with Sharon Stone's underwear-less crotch. It still remains one of the most talked about scenes of all time.

Shockingly, the actor now reveals, she didn't even know the director shot her like that and that it was meant to be an 'innuendo'. And like the rest of the world, even Stone was left gasping for air, when she saw the scene on silver screen. Obviously the actor was livid. In an interview she said,

"When the film ended, I went into the booth and slapped him."

We don't blame her! 

4. The Change Up

While filming a particular scene, Ryan Reynolds could not take his eyes off of his co-star Olivia Wilde's breasts.

While talking about this particularly awkward moment, Reynolds told Jay Leno on the Tonight Show that,

"In the scene, she’s sitting there and I take her top off and the bra off, and she has those pasties on, but she’s drawn these adorable little smiley faces on them. And I forget every line in the scene - not just from this movie but from every other movie I’ve done."

5. Love and Other Drugs

While the film had many intimate scenes between the actors, there was one scene that left Anne Hathaway pretty uncomfortable. This was even before they shot the scene. The actor was supposed to remove her trench coat and be completely nude for a scene. While the actor did what she was told to do, it turned out to be just a rehearsal. Poor Hathaway!

6. The Legend Of Tarzan

This time, Margot Robbie was not the one getting bruised, thank god. Tarzan might be a tough, rugged hero and while the actor playing it, Alexander Skarsgård, managed to film the entire movie without cuts and bruises, until he had to do a sex scene with Robbie. Robbie was supposed to punch him lightly during their lovemaking, but she instead ended up hitting him really hard. Talk about packing a punch.

7.  Fifty Shades Of Grey

This super racy film obviously had to come with its own awkward tales. While Dakota Johnson was 'lashed with a whip' literally in the film, there was a moment while filming a sex scene, the actor accidently got whiplash from being thrown on the bed too aggressively.

"I got whiplash once from him throwing me on the bed; so f***ing painful."

8. Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song

Chances are you have heard about this film only in connection with this story. Melvin Van Peebles, who not only starred in the film but also funded and directed it, had actual sex in the film and unfortunately contracted gonorrhea, a sexually transmitted disease. Van Peebles successfully applied to the Directors Guild in order to get workers' compensation because he was "hurt on the job." Van Peebles used the money to purchase more film.

9. Superbad 

Christopher Mintz-Plasse was all of 17 when he was made to have sex in a film. But that is not where the story ends. The actor, because he was a minor, had his own mother, watch him make fake love on set. The law requires parents of underage actors to be at the set if their children are to act in a sex scene. 

This is terrifying, awkward, discomforting, all at the same time.
