Hyderabad Airport Makes Life Easier For Passengers, Is The First To Offer E-Boarding Facility

The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad has become the first airport in the country to offer e-boarding facility to domestic fliers.

With this, now a domestic passenger will need only a mobile e-boarding card and Aadhaar Card number to gain entry into the airport and covers all the boarding processes right from entry into the terminal building of the airport to boarding the aircraft.

They just need to flash the E-boarding card at e-Gate bar code readers as they proceed towards the boarding entry point.

Fliers, however are given the freedom to follow the traditional process of showing a photo-identification (ID) to gain entry into the airport in case Aadhaar number is not available.

The system was developed in-house by the GMR group which operates the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.

"We are happy to announce a comprehensive end-to-end E-boarding solution, first time at any Indian airport. After the successful pilot of the project and a go-ahead from Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), we have used our internal capabilities to commence E-boarding (facility) in shortest possible time," GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) Chief executive Officer, SGK Kishore said in a statement.

The airport which was commissioned in 2008 has a healthy mix of business and tourist traffic served by 15 international and 5 domestic airlines that connect Hyderabad to over 16 international and 25 domestic destinations.
