When is India vs WI 1st T20 International in Florida, USA, what time does it start, live streaming online and live TV coverage

India take on West Indies in the two-match T20I series starting in Florida, USA on Saturday. The first international cricket match on American soil is set to draw plenty of spectators as leading cricketers will take the field. After winning the Test series 2-0, India would like to carry the momentum into the shortest format, and take revenge of their ICC World T20 2016 semi-final loss against West Indies.

West Indies, the 2016 T20 champions, have the services of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo but will be without their World Cup winning skipper Darren Sammy. There are not many changes to Indian squad and only limited-overs skipper MS Dhoni and Jasprit Bumrah have joined the team in the States.

What is special about India vs WI 1st T20I?

While it’s a regular bilateral series between two nations, the venue makes it special. This is for the first time a BCCI-backed Indian team will play on American soil. Sunil Gavaskar has played exhibition matches at makeshift venues in the past, but this is going to be the first official one.

SUMMARY

After a lopsided Test series, with heavy intervention of rain, the sudden inclusion of two T20s will put the West Indies at ease, considering their domination in the shortest format, and apathy otherwise. It certainly won’t be as easy for the Indians as it was in white clothing, for come T20s, and the West Indies galvanise into a completely different outfit.

The venue for the two T20s is the southernmost US state of Florida, and the T20s will serve as a healthy exercise in promoting the game in the United States, especially after the success of the All Stars series last year.

NEWS

INDIA

MS Dhoni, in the news these days because of his upcoming biopic, will join the team for a short stint of T20s, having already had retired from the longer game. Joining him will be Jasprit Bumrah, a T20 specialist, and India’s trump card in the final overs.

The rest of the team is constituted by those already in the Test squad. It will take some adjustment for T20 giants like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to shrug off their Test mode and jump into T20 mood.

WEST INDIES

The T20 team bears little resemblance to the vanquished set in the Test matches, with the shortest-format specialists having been roped in to bring an end to their woes. A World T20 triumph earlier this year, their second one overall, will serve as all the motivation that they require when facing a strong Indian side.

In the likes of Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard and Sunil Narine, they have one of the best line-up of T20 players, proven performers who’ve played around the world. Darren Sammy is not in the scheme of things anymore, and has made way for Carlos Brathwaite to lead the side heavy on arsenal.

PREDICTED XI

INDIA:

Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul, Ajinkya Rahane, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah

WEST INDIES:

Johnson Charles, Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Andre Fletcher(W), Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard, Carlos Brathwaite(C), Jason Holder, Sunil Narine.

MATCH PREDICTION:

Given the nature of the format, and the T20 prowess of both teams, it makes for an even match. However, the West Indian side might have a slight whisker of an edge, considering the last time these two teams met was in the World T20, where the Windies edged out the Indian team, and subsequently went on to win the tournament.
