A 26/11 hero, Tiger the sniffer dog who helped detect bombs during the Mumbai terror attack, died on Saturday, July 23. He was 12 years old and had retired from police service last year.
The black labrador had been living at Fizzah Farms in Virar since May 2015 and had recently contracted lung infection, reported The Times of India.
He was part of the pack of dogs under the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) in Mumbai who helped sniff out bombs during the deadly attacks, and is the third dog from the group to have passed away in the past four months.
Tiger's childhood buddy and colleague Sultan died on June 18 while sniffer dog Max breathed his last on April 8. Now, Caesar is the only sniffer dog of the 26/11 gang left on the farm.
Tiger's funeral was performed in Mumbai with full state honours. The funeral was attended by other dogs, who stayed in the farm with Tiger, including Caesar, reported The Indian Express.
