ICC World T-20:Gayle hailed Kohli, Dhoni and Big B, who he called a legend ahead of India-West Indies semi-final

Chris Gayle has acknowledged Virat Kohli’s genius ahead of the second semi-final between India and West Indies, which will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Gayle was talking to ANI  ahead of the Windies training session. MS Dhoni, Kohli, match awareness and Amitabh Bachchan were the topics Gayle was pumped up about.

The West Indies opener hailed his Indian Premier League (IPL) teammate Kohli and mentioned his recent form, which he termed ‘fantastic’, and said that he wouldn’t mind another sterling batting display from the Indian vice-captain as long as he ended on the losing side

India faced West Indies in the previous World Cup too, and it ended up being comfortable victory for the Men in Blue against Darren Sammy’s men. There is a feel in the host nation that they have their name written on the trophy, especially after pulling off astounding smash-and-grab wins against Bangladesh and Australia.

If IPL games are anything to go by, Dhoni has got the measure of Gayle, managing to keep him quiet for large spells and lot letting him settle in. Gayle had only good things to say about the Ranchi dasher, who he called unpredictable and elaborated that the bowler at the other end will not be a cause of concern for him.

Gayle also talked about his strategy going into the contest. He said he would be keeping his “Eyes and ears open” and try to play according to the situation. The swashbuckling Gayle brought up the only hundred in the tournament so far (Against England) and the Jamaican mentioned that there will be no change in strategy going into the game against India. Sprinkled with a heavy doze of Caribbean Calypso and Gayle’s tongue-in-cheek narcissism, he said, “ Chris Gayle will always be positive, no matter which bowler is gonna be bowling. Chris Gayle look into attack. That’s T20′s nature (sic)”

The Wankhede Stadium has been seen run-fests in recent times and Gayle scored a hundred a couple of weeks ago in the same venue. In T20s, the West Indians are seen as one of the most dangerous sides. They have won the 2012 edition and the core of that victorious team remains the same. Gayle signed off by calling Bollywood Matinee Idol Amitabh Bachchan, with whom he had a brief chat, a “legend”.
