1.Sant Rampal:

He claims to be the successor to saint Kabir and his followers are a firm believer of this fact! The reason why his followers are ready to sacrifice their life for him is that they believe he is Kabir reborn. Now we know from whom to possess the talent of brainwashing people into believing them that a guru can never be criticized.

2.Asaram Bapu:

This man who claims to be influenced by Bhakti Yoga, Karam Yoga and Gnana Yoga isn’t really seen doing yoga as much. Talking about his achievements, he cleared a potency test at the age of 73, and also claims to solve “Monthly Periodic Problems of Women” with “Vedic Mantra Power”.

3.Swami Nithyananda:

He is the founder of Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam ashram and was arrested for charges of raping his female followers. Making a physical idol of a person/god able to answer prayers and grant boons is claimed to be his superpower. He names this practice to be “Praana Pratishtha”.

4.Chandraswami:

Tantric, godman and astrologer who claimed to read minds and cast spells, Chandraswami is best known for being the spiritual adviser of erstwhile Prime Minister Narasimha Rao. He was also held responsible for involvement in the murder of Rajiv Gandhi.

5.Swami Sadachari:

However, this man holds a superpower different from all the others mentioned above. He claimed that he could light branches with the energy of his eyes. Magnificent, we must say! Sadly for the baba and his so called superpower, famous rationalist Sanal Edamaruku demonstrated the same trick using chemicals placed under branches. Well, we think the superpower might have leaked out

6.Swami Premananda:

Swami Premananda also grew popular because of his resemblance with Sathya Sai Baba. He was found guilty of raping 13 girls and was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. He was known for producing the sacred ash called “Vibhuti” and also the representation of Lord Shiva known to be “Lingam”, from his abdomen.

7.Shreemurath Dwivedi:

More famously known as Ichchadhari Sant Swami Bhimanand Maharaj chitrakoot Wale was arrested for running a prostitution racket from his ashram. Now, the reason why he called himself “Ichchadhari” was that he claimed to have a superpower of turning into a serpent at will.

8.Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh:

The “love charger” who calls himself “messenger of god” was charged by CBI in a rape case. Dera Sacha Sauda chief had also been charged with sexually assaulting women followers of the Dera at Sirsa-based headquarters.
