The World's Least Peaceful Countries

On the Basis of Four Parameters- militarization,safety ans Security,ongoing conflicts and overall GPI sore, Vision for Humanity  published the tenth edition of Global Peace Index.Total 163 Countries were ranked to determine the most and least peaceful countries in the world..According to the Study the world has become less peaceful in the last year.The Study was conducted by the Institute for Economics and Peace.

Here We look at the 10 least peaceful Countries in the World.

#1 Syria

Rank: 163rd of 163

Syria is the least peaceful country in the world because of the high rate of terrorist activitiy, conflicts and state failure. In 2015, 63.18 percent of the Syrian population were classified as refugees or displaced persons, and today an increasing number have fled the country, a primary contributor to the European refugee crisis. In fact, Syria spends the world's highest proportion (a staggering 54 percent) of its GDP on the cost of containing violence.

#2 South Sudan

Rank: 162nd of 163

South Sudan is one of the two countries with more than 20 percent of their population categorized as refugees or displaced persons. It spends 35 percent of its GDP on the cost of containing violence.

#3 Iraq

Rank: 161st of 163

Excluding Syria, the country with the second highest death rate from internal conflict is Iraq. It also shows the second highest economic impact of violence.

#4 Afghanistan

Rank: 160th of 163

The least peaceful country in South Asia with a high rate of terrorist activity. Afghanistan’s military expenditure rose from 1.66 percent of GDP to 15.75 percent in less than a decade.

#5 Somalia

Rank: 159th of 163

More than 20 percent of Somalia's population are displaced.

#6 Yemen

Rank: 158th of 163

Yemen suffered the largest drop in its GPI score, falling nine positions to 158th due to the civil war that escalated into a regional conflict.

#7 Central African Republic

Rank: 157th of 163

The Central African Republic spends an incredible 29 percent of its GDP containing violence.

 

#8 Ukraine

Rank: 156th of 163

The least peaceful country in Europe and one of the largest drops on the list. Increased militarization, falling internal stability and failure to address corruption and improve state institutions all contributed to its low score.

#9 Sudan

Rank: 155th of 163

Sudan actually improved its rating despite suffering from significant instability in recent years.

#10 Libya

Ranked: 154th of 163

Libya's rating for violent crime hit the maximum possible score of 5 in the new report. It is believed that, after Syria and Iraq, Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) forces are strongest in Libya.
