After a month long Preparatory Camp in Delhi, the Indian Women players are now assembling for the Coaching Camp at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The camp, scheduled from 2nd to 23rd October 2015, also includes young talents from the Junior Women Team, who recently participated in the 7th AHF Women’s Junior Asia Cup and Volvo Invitational U-21 (Women) Tournament held earlier this year.
33 players will be part of the coaching
camp where they will be trained for 22 days at Kalinga Stadium. The
33-campers consist of 4 goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 9 midfielders and 10
forwards.
The players will work on their skills
and team coordination for the upcoming tournaments that are scheduled in
the next one year and the all important Rio 2016 Olympics.
Commenting on the Coaching Camp, Indian Women Coach Mathias Ahrens said, “With
the team all set to face the challenge of Rio de Janeiro next year,
Hockey India is ensuring that the players have all that is required to
be ready for the tournament and be a tough team for the opponents.
Keeping this in mind we are arranging regular Preparatory camps along
with plans to line-up Test series with different international teams in
the next 8 months which will help the players to better themselves as a
unit.”
