Padmavati’s Name Has Been Changed. CBFC Passed It With 26 Cuts. Twitter Is Trolling The New Title

Padmavati’s Name Has Been Changed

There is some good news for the team of movie “Padmavati” as it has been passed by CBFC with U/A certificate; however, there is a slight change in the title and it will be released as “Padmavat”.

Padmavati

The with U/A certificate means that the flick can be watched by all age groups but children under the age of 12 can watch it under the parental guidance only.

The censor board has also told the makers to make 26 cuts and disclaimers will be shown before the start of the film and after the interval too, which will state that this movie is a work of fiction and has no connection with any historical figure. It will also give a clarification on the much popularised song “Ghoomar”.

The movie was in the centre of controversies since its shooting started and not just the sets were vandalised but director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also manhandled. Somehow the shooting was completed but as the release date, which was earlier December 1, came near, protests by the Rajput Karni Sena increased manifold. These groups were protesting because as per them, queens don’t dance in front of other men in Rajput royal households as shown in the movie. They also claimed that there is a romantic dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Allauddin Khilji.

Padmavati;

Prize were announced on the heads of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone and one Rajput leader warned Deepika of chopping her nose if she didn’t stop talking in support of the film. The movie also stars Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh and it was shown to historians from Jaipur by the CBFC before passing it.

However, it doesn’t mean that the problems of the makers have ended as the leaders of Rajput Karni Sena have told Times Now that they won’t let it release at any cost. The good part is that at least one hurdle has been crossed by the makers of “Padmavati” or rather we should say “Padmavat”, let’s see what will happen on its release.

Twitter has reacted over the matter and here are some selected tweets:
