ICC brings up a huge change in all 3 formats of the game!

International cricket is going to get on a very exciting journey. Many things have been proposed in the recently concluded in the recent ICC meeting. Things will change a lot to make all three test, one day and twenty 20 cricket more competitive and it will have more context.

In test cricket, the top 9 teams will play with each other in home and away basis in a span of 2 years. For example team 1 plays a series away in the first 2 year span then that team will play next series with same opponent at home in next 2 years. So, in short the nine teams will play one series with each other in 2 years and then same will be repeated again in next 2 year span.

There will be 3 more teams in the second tier apart from those 9 teams from first tier. These 3 teams will play with each other as many tests as they want and after top 9 teams complete their home and away series with each other in 4 years then ICC will decide what to do with those teams.

As far as one day cricket is concerned there will also be a home and away basis format like tests. But here there will be 13 teams in total, the ten Full Members, Ireland and Afghanistan and the winner of the World Cricket League. They will play this format with each other in a span of 3 years.

The top 7 teams and the hosts will qualify for the world cup directly while remaining 5 sides will have to battle it out in the qualifiers with other associate nations. Two teams will be added to the main event and they will join those 8 teams to make a 10 team world cup.

The most uncertain format of the game is T20 cricket, there is still not any type of confirmed news about 2018 and 2022 world T20 yet. But talks are that the teams should organise T20I series along with those ODI series mentioned above.

Then they can play regional tournaments in which associates can also take part in that tournament. From there, they can qualify for the world T20. These ideas are still not confirmed that’s why we are mentioning them as ‘ideas’. Let us see what happens in next ICC meeting which will be a big one.
