Not Flights, Not Trains - This Man Decided To Travel The World In The Most Unusual Way Possible

Now 37, Thor Pedersen from Demark started on a unique journey almost three years back. His goal? To travel to all the countries of the world without stepping on a train or flight. So far he's travelled to 121 countries in four continents - spending 24 hours, at least, in every country he visits - and feels he'll see 40 before he finally touches down on home ground.

His entire journey up until now - almost 1,51,450 km - has been completed without taking a flight. Instead he chose to 'create history' by traversing miles on cargo ships. "No one has ever been to every country completely without flying. So I am potentially making world history," he told MailOnline in an interview.

He does admit it gets a bit lonely at times, and how travelling this way is not only unique but slightly tougher, but with 82 countries left, Thor isn't showing any signs of slowing down. Quite the opposite, in fact. Calling it "life intensified," he hopes he's able to inspire people to travel.

From tours of the engine rooms on these ships, to spotting the occasional whale he sure seems to have seen and learnt a lot.
