India vs England 2nd ODI 2017: No hotel rooms for teams in Cuttack, forced to stay in Pune

It has been two days since the first One-Day International (ODI) between India and England got over, but both the teams are still ‘stranded’ in Pune. Hosts India and visitors England were forced to stay in Pune due to unavailability of hotel rooms in Cuttack- the venue for second ODI between the two teams.

Both the teams will now leave for Cuttack on Wednesday morning, a day before the second ODI, as the rooms in the hotel that the teams are supposed to stay are currently booked. The hotel rooms are actually booked till Wednesday morning for a wedding party.

“The team will be coming to Cuttack on Wednesday morning at 11:30 am and train around 4 pm in the afternoon. Actually, the hotel is overbooked till Tuesday and there are no rooms available for the teams. But rooms are available from Wednesday and so the delay in the travel plans,” Orissa Cricket Association(OCA) secretary Ashirbad Behera was quoted as saying by cricketnext.

“Everything is in order, and we are hoping that the match will be a great success just like the first ODI in Pune. As for the hotels, we can’t really help when it comes to these things. We can only book rooms when we have it available,” Behera added.

Call it lacking of planning or what, but it is unfortunate that the teams will not be able to practice much at the venue.

India currently lead the three-match ODI series 1-0 after winning the opening game by three wickets. India chased down 351 to stun the opponents. The home side will now be looking for a winning lead at Cuttack.
