Heavy rains triggered cloudbursts in several districts of
Uttarakhand, killing many people and washing away houses, on Friday. In
Chamoli district, at least 9 people were killed. Following the flash
flood, the water level rose in Nandaprayag area.
Two houses in the ghat area of Chamoli district were washed away in River Mandakini, while other houses were in danger. Chamoli was the worst affected as River Alaknanda crossed the danger level mark.
The cloud bursts at Bastadia and Pithoragarh districts, reportedly, injured many people.
The Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway (NH-58) was blocked due to heavy rains and landslide near Devprayag.
